Jewish Music
Alongside an International Operatic and Recital singing career, Ruti has a special interest in promoting Jewish music and exploring new and original repertoire based on Jewish themes and ideas. As the JMI's vocal consultant and a Millennium Award Winner for research in Jewish music, she will shortly be celebrating the end of a year long project with a recital of songs and duets from the Jewish art song repertoire discovered in archives and libraries around the world as well as through interviews with contemporary composers and musicologists in Israel, the UK and USA. Ruti had led a singing Yiddish workshop at the recent London Klezmer Festival presented by the JMI as well as an acclaimed performance at the launching of the Yiddish International forum at the House of Commons. Look out for her work with 'DIVA-le' ('Art Song' Recital for voice and piano) and 'Tof Miriam' (Jewish folk ensemble). | ||
